Doraemon Cake

Good morning everyone! its Christmas eve's eve. Im starting to greet and wish my customers merry Christmas and happy holidays to those on leave. 

As usual, this week's update on my cakes. 

Below is a 5inch round doraemon cake I made for one of my customers. 

This cake size is perfect for a small gathering of 4-5 pax. Made of dark chocolate cake and yummy Vanilla buttercream made from New Zealand butter.

The hearts are made of fondant , so are the rest of the cake.

Great Gatsby Cupcakes

Weddings , weddings, weddings.

Is it just me, or there is a lot of weddings this month??

I've been occupied with a few wedding cakes / cupcakes orders lately. Below are a few pictures of the Great Gatsby themed cupcakes for a ROM.

These cupcakes are hand painted with edible luster dust and alcohol. Cupcakes are Dark Chocolate with vanilla buttercream made from NZ quality butter! 

I used silver and gold cupcake liners to stay with the theme colour. 

Just an update on the christmas cookies and gift box. I have made another batch of it, and it's going quick! so come in and grab one! perfect for gifts exchange for work christmas events, family gathering or for your own consumption!

To avoid disappointment, please ring us to check if the cookies are still available. Besides the cookies, we do also have Tea Leaves available in a very pretty red pyramid gift box.

Christmas Cookies

Hello everyone!

It's less than one month to Christmas. This week, I made some Christmas sugar cookies for sale at Koru Cafe. Pictures are as below.

They are simple cookies made with butter, sugar and a hint of vanilla flavouring. I then decorate it with fondant.

These cookies are then boxed in these beautiful Christmas red boxes with Gold or Silver ribbons. I've also done a batch of Hershey's Chocolate chips cookies.

Currently, we have sold all our Christmas cookies, but there are some chocolate chip cookies left. The new batch will be available sometimes end of this week.

Happy December everyone! Christmas is near!! yay!

Hello Kitty cake

Hello all, below's picture is a similar cake I've made a few years ago, but this time in a lighter pink. Hello Kitty 2D cake with 3D whiskers. I used Pepero for the whiskers. I used fondant for the ribbon and the rest of the design.

This cute 5inch round chocolate cake is frosted with quality vanilla buttercream and covered with pink fondant. 

As I mentioned in my previous blog that I now bake all my cakes in my new cafe, Koru Cafe at Empire Damasara ( near Ikea Damansara) , we don't only serve cakes/ sweets, we do serve breakfast and lunch as well as coffee!!

Horse year baby!

Good morning everyone!

I can feel the holiday season coming really really soon! aren't you excited?

Anyways, a week ago, I was asked to make a one year old birthday cake. Baby Raguel was born in the year of the horse, so...they wanted a horse on the cake!

This moist yummy chocolate cake frost with light and yet rich vanilla buttercream is measured and assemble into a number 1 sign to resemble 1st birthday.I decided to make the name on a cube with pastel colors, simply because it's so soft and somehow represents a little fragile baby!

 Next, I wanted to cover the cake board with fondant, but I wanted it to look dreamy and had more texture to it, so I went with the "blanket" look.

The little tiny flowers, I simply thought it was sweet!

Now the horse! I did enjoy making the horse very much. Arranging every strand of it's tail hair and round big eye!

Overall, this cake was about 12" x 9" after fondant deco. Its about 2 x 8inch square cake. Plenty of cake to eat!

Halloween!

Hello all!!

We have almost completed the year 2015 and it's scary! Christmas and the holiday season feels so close now! Before that, Halloween is another event that people look forward to and put in effort dressing up!

At Koru Cafe, we didn't want to miss out in "dressing up" too! We decorated our cupcakes in Halloween theme and gave out cupcakes for FREE with every RM 20 spent! My partner even named these cupcakes.

Naked Cake

Good morning!!

It's been all hazy weather this few weeks, with many falling sick, I wasn't spared  cafe business was pretty slow as expected. not forgetting the weakening of MYR. Anyhow, that gave me a lot of time with my cakes! Recently, I made a Naked Cake for a malay engagement. It's call "naked" for obvious reason I guess, it's not fully iced like the other cakes, minimal icing and decoration with full of flavour - I guess it's healthier too?

Below are a few pictures I took in my cafe. Chocolate cake layered with Hershey's Semi Sweet Chocolate buttercream and topped up with fresh Australian Strawberries!

 A few picture taken from the cafe's balcony - YES! we do have a balcony, which is quite private and cozy that fits only 2 pax.

Chanel Bag Cake

I was sorting all my cake / cupcake picture and I noticed I actually missed out posting this cake!

Anyhows, this is a cake I made for a friend of mine earlier this year. I had to measure and calculate the amount of cake needed as well as to make sure the cake stays in shape and doesn't fall apart after assembling it.

Hello all!!

My apologies for MIA without notice. As some of you may already know, I started my own cafe, and if you are wondering will I still be doing customized cakes and cupcakes? Answer is, Yes I will be. Honestly, things with the cafe are just starting to settle down now, and I am finally getting some spare time, thanks to my staff at work.

So ok, time to advertise Koru Cafe. Koru Cafe is located in Empire Damansara ( Damansara Perdana - near Hasil, Gamuda, Pikom etc). Besides having cupcakes in our menu, we are a small cozy cafe that serves food typically found in New Zealand Cafes. Our Menu includes an array of New Zealand's staple sweets and savoury delicacies including Lamington, Custard Squares, Raspberry Slice, Bacon & Egg Pie, and Pinwheel Scones. We also serve coffee in the unique Kiwi way, a labyrinth of bold full-bodied with spicy fragrance of pepper and cinnamon and a lingering sensation of woody Sandalwood aroma in a BOWL consisting 4 shots of espresso!!PS: These bowls are actually from NZ.

Why New Zealand you ask? Well, because I lived in New Zealand few years ago. New Zealand had become something very close to my heart. I still visit NZ every year.

December Cakes

Happy 2015 everyone!!!

I am just done with my 2014 holidays and to be honest, it's good to be home!

Anyways, below are the few last cupcakes and cake I made for the year 2014.

I'll start with the wedding tier. This was a gift from a guy to a newly wed brother and sister in law.

As requested, plain, simple tier with a couple figurine on the cake.

I didn't manage to get a picture of the full tier when all the cupcakes and cake were on.
But you get the picture :)

Next!

The cupcake boxes below are most probably to be given out as new years gift. There's no theme to this, so I did a mixture of flavours in each box with minimal decoration.
